Summary:

Emerald Lake Asylum is not a place anyone would choose to visit. Nineteen-year-old Skylenna, however, has made a promise she must keep. Since her admission, she has only one goal : to prove to the Board that barbaric treatments like waterboarding, boiling baths, and beatings are no longer the answer. But all of this is thrown into disarray when she encounters the source of the asylum's horror: a patient with a split personality. On one side, he is Dessin, a bloodthirsty genius. On the other, a personality buried deep within his subconscious.

When Dessin is caught during a prison break attempt, he faces execution. Only Skylenna can prevent this, if she can bring out his core personality and reveal his humanity. She has ninety days to save his life. But to do so, she must immerse herself with him in his world of masterful puppetry.

A forbidden attraction arises, defying her best judgment. Piece by piece, Skylenna uncovers the dark secrets of his past that have turned him into the monster everyone fears. And despite the terrifying, indestructible persona he projects to the world, Dessin has one weakness: her.
